Well, the season is almost over. There isn't much to do before the bees are put away for the winter. Reading and talking bees during the winter months is the best way for any beekeeper to try to pick up some more beekeeping knowledge. We had another good bee talk night this past Thursday night (first Thursday of the month). There was over 2 hours of bee talk. It started as a Q&A at 7:00 and ended up (after many answers and stories) at 9:40. If anyone is interested in coming next month, just call us to let us know you are coming down. Write down any questions you may have and bring them with you. My father is a wealth of beekeeping information and one of the most knowledgeable beekeepers in the area. I consider myself lucky to have such a great beekeeping mentor for a dad.
We will be having a talk on comb honey and creamed honey one of the bee talk nights. Let me know if you are interested. We will also be talking about nucs in a future nights and starting a group to make nucs with us next year. I found there are so many beekeepers who want to learn how to make nucs or raise queens. That's about it for now.
